The Microbiome Coalition (TMBC) represents a broad spectrum of companies, innovators and key thinkers in the microbiome field, who seek to promote greater public understanding of the role of the microbiome in human health and wellness, in addition to advancing appropriate regulation, needed investment and required infrastructure.

In order to achieve the full benefits to consumers, patients and the healthcare system through improved diagnostics, therapeutics and direct-to-consumer services and products, the Founding Members of TMBC have identified the following key priorities in education, regulatory engagement and advocacy to advance:

Education

Educating the public, policymakers, government officials and private sector health care leaders about the public and personal health benefits of the microbiome.

Uncovering and identifying the challenges and hurdles to the commercial success and clinical adoption of microbiome based services and products and finding solutions to those challenges.

Regulatory Engagement

Engage with the FDA and other relevant regulatory agencies to establish dialogue and find ways to collaborate and guide regulatory science and development of guidances and regulations pertaining to the microbiome.

Educating policymakers about the potential of the microbiome to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the healthcare system.

Advocacy

Support collaboration among different entities working on the microbiome to ensure that the three Cs – consistency, comparability and compatibility – are met in the following areas:
